When It’s Cold Outside, Here’s How to Get Glowing Skin

It’s time to pack away flip flops, grab a scarf and pull out your boots.

Winter is on its way, and while we love the white wonderland that it brings, there are some downsides: dry skin, chapped lips, and blotchy complexions.

The good news is you don’t have to hibernate for winter – just prepare ahead of time with these tips from SK-II experts.

Here are six ways to get glowing skin in the colder months… plus how I’m getting ready for my cold-weather holiday trip!

1. Prepare with Facial Masks That Give Your Skin an Extra Boost

The cold air can be extremely drying to our face, neck, and décolletage. SK-II’s signature masks, the Facial Treatment Mask and the Genoptics Aura Essence Mask are enriched with Pitera™ and help to give our skin an extra boost of hydration, nutrients, and minerals.

I like to use the Facial Treatment Mask two to three times a week while I’m in winter mode, and I always make sure to bring my Genoptics Aura Essence Mask with me when I travel – it’s perfect for a quick pick-me-up on the plane or after a long day out sightseeing.

2. Drink Plenty of Water

Staying hydrated is key to keeping our skin looking healthy all year long, but it’s especially important in winter when the air is so dry. I aim to drink at least two liters of water a day, and I make sure to add hydrating ingredients like cucumber, mint, or lemon to my drinks for an added boost.

3. Use a Gentle Cleanser

The cold weather can also cause our skin to become sensitive, so it’s important to use a gentle cleanser that won’t strip away our natural oils. SK-II’s Gentle Cleanser is perfect for this – it contains Pitera™ and will leave our skin feeling soft and smooth.

4. Wear Sunscreen

Even though the days are shorter and the weather is colder, that doesn’t mean we don’t need to wear sunscreen. There are many sunscreens that contain moisturizers and ingredients like rosemary oil, which can help shield our skin from the wind. When I fly, I like to use an SPF moisturizer on my face.

5. Wear a Hat

Finally, make sure you always wear a hat when you’re out in the cold – even if it’s not sunny! The wind and cold air can feel like sandpaper against our face and lips, so make sure you protect that delicate skin with a cute beanie or cashmere scarf.

6. Get an SK-II Facial Treatment

Of course, the best way to get glowing skin in winter is to get an SK-II facial treatment. Our therapist will analyze your skin and recommend the perfect treatment for you – whether it’s the SK-II Clear beauty treatment to remove blemishes and blackheads or the Genoptics Aura Essence Mask to give your skin an extra boost of hydration.

I hope these tips help you keep your skin looking gorgeous all winter long!
